It's a 20' x 40' Cape Cod. 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, attached 2-car garage. After 24 years, the owners wanted a bigger house. But they couldn't find anything they liked better. They did not want to move away, because their son goes to the local high school. They also did not want to wait for months, possibly a year, to sell their house before buying a new one. So they hired an architect.

5 months later, they had plans for a 1st floor addition across the back of the house and a full 2nd story with a bump out bedroom on top of the new 1st floor addition. New gourmet kitchen, living & dining room, family room,& a laundry room the 1st floor. Big master suite with dressing room, 2 bedrooms & a common bath on the 2nd floor.

The plan for
complete renovation more than doubled the size of the old house. The estimates came in at $450-500K, far more than they expected.

Their dream house had a nightmare budget. Until they looked at a modular remodeling approach.

Welcome to Modular Remodeling

In this blog, we will show you daily progress on a home improvement project in the Somerset Hills of New Jersey that more doubles the existing living space.

Happens all the time; what makes this project different, you say?

Modular remodeling makes it different. We employ traditional "stick built" renovation practices with custom modular remodeling elements to improve the house.

Why?

Because modular
remodeling enables us to complete the project faster, with better quality, using green building techniques that are more energy & resource efficient than traditional building practices.

Oh, and the square footage costs are far lower, as you will soon see.

The progress report & photos will be updated every few days to show our progress. Let us know what you think and what questions you have along the way.
